Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the PTSA. We welcome and encourage involvement from each grade level, from every conservatory.
Below you will find brief descriptions of open roles and corresponding responsibilities. Many of these roles and responsibilities overlap and there is always someone to support your work! Texas PTA also provides a wealth of resources at our fingertips.You can also use this form to share other information with us.
While we love to hear about the diverse skills and expertise of our parents and students, there is no experience required to volunteer with the PTSA. All you need is the desire to support our parents, students and faculty.
At our core, the PTA is a child advocacy organization. This is important work for our students, our faculty and our own families. We will work diligently this year to ensure the Booker T. Washington HSPVA PTSA - is an accurate reflection of what our school stands for. We'd love for you to join us and help us in this work!

*Arts in Education Committee – Ensure that the PTSA supports access to the arts year-round by identifying monthly arts-related activities and networking with the community to collaborate. Develop a plan to promote the Reflections program and recognize eligible participating students.
*Class Committee- Champion the membership, volunteerism, and fundraising for the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior class. Engage with parents and students to cultivate strong support for PTSA programs and maintain the class fund. Develop partnerships with conservatory and STUCO class reps.* The Junior Class Chair will support Senior Class Chair in the execution of all Senior year-end activities.*
*Communications Committee - Assists the VP of Communication in collecting, planning, and executing PTSA communications. Will leverage multiple channels to achieve the broadest reach - social media, Remind, email, newsletters, and Membership Toolkit. Develop partnerships with Guild Communication reps.*
*Family Engagement Committee - Lead transformative family engagement efforts to raise awareness among PTSA members and leaders through diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to serve ALL children and families in multicultural activities.
Fundraising Committee - Support the VP of Fundraising in planning, promoting, and executing the All-School Musical and schoolwide productions. Network through membership and the community to continually raise funds for the PTSA. Supervise the development and sale of merchandise. Find new opportunities to fundraise to support PTSA programs. Partner with the VP of Community + Programs, VP of Communication, and Treasurer to raise funds effectively.*
*Healthy Lifestyles Committee - Lead the effort to establish a school wellness committee. Students can also organize health-focused events.
*Historian Committee - Create and maintain the PTSA's digital scrapbook, including all activities sponsored by the PTSA.
Hospitality Committee - Plan and organize catering for PTSA sponsored productions to feed the cast and other schoolwide activities.
Membership/Volunteer Committee- This position is tasked with recruiting members and volunteers to assist the VP of Membership to successfully grow and engage membership. The foundation of achieving our mission to make every child's potential a reality starts with the membership role.
Parent Education Committee - Plan and organize Parent University to support BTWHSPVA Parents. Identify meaningful and impactful programs that are relevant to the BTWHSPVA community. Work with VP of Community + Programs, VP of Communication, and faculty liaisons to ensure quality programming is scheduled, developed, and lead effectively.
*Student Advocacy Committee - Acknowledge, support, and advocate for any student in need. Work with faculty, Board members, and community resources to ensure our students get the support they need without disrupting their educational experience.
Summer Scholarships Committee - Organize, promote, evaluate, and award all Summer Scholarships. Partner with VP of Communication, and Treasurer to ensure the program is fully executed.
*student members are eligible to serve in this position as representatives
