Parent/Guardian Membership
The "P" in PTSA stands for Parents! Parents and guardians, your active membership keeps you connected to your school community and gives you a voice in your student's educational success and personal well-being. By becoming a PTSA member, you can form a partnership with your student and their teachers, and develop lasting relationships with other Booker T. families. At least one parent/guardian per household is encouraged to join the PTSA to receive these benefits:
- Receive the school-wide informative weekly newsletter.
- Attend and vote at the PTSA membership meetings.
- Attend Parent University, hosted by the PTSA, to empower parents with resources important to student learning and socio-emotional development.
- Attend coffee talks with the principal hosted by the PTSA, which allow parents to learn and discuss important topics with the principal.
- enjoy the National PTA and Texas PTA membership benefits

Faculty and Staff Membership
The "T" in PTSA stands for Teachers! As teachers play a vital role in a child's education, the PTSA celebrates and supports them with events and programs like Teacher Appreciation Week. Here are some more ways the PTSA supports teachers and staff:
- Academic Conservatory support
- All School Production support
- Communications software such as Remind
- Teacher Appreciation surprises every nine weeks
- Faculty scholarships through the Texas PTA
- Funding for the student club/group sponsored by a faculty member

Student Membership
The "S" in PTSA stands for Students! Student voices are amplified in the PTSA and play an important role in the decision-making process. Adding PTSA to your resume for student leadership activities is highly recommended. By becoming a part of PTSA, you will acquire valuable experience in leadership, advocacy, public speaking, teamwork, and event planning, all the while positively impacting your school. Additionally, PTSA student members earn community service hours for their contributions to the organization. The PTSA advocates for all students by
- supporting grade-level activities, including senior-year traditions
- providing student club/group activity grants
- providing student scholarships for summer enrichment
- supporting all school productions

In the 2023-24 school year the Texas PTA has recognized the BTWHSPVA PTSA with the Voice for Every Child Platinum Membership Award for having 1,000+ members to represent all students enrolled at school. This is the most prestigious Membership Award offered to Local PTAs, and we are among only 69 PTAs across the state that have earned this honor! We are doing incredible things for our students and your PTSA leaders are showing a commitment to excellence running the BTW PTSA. Thank you parents, guardians, students, faculty, and supporters!
