PTSA Summer Scholarship Application

The 2025 Summer Scholarship program opens March 1, 2025 and closes April 30, 2025 or sooner if funds are depleted.
 
Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (BTWHSPVA) PTSA Summer Scholarship Program assists students who plan to attend an art or academic enrichment program during the summer. Students are awarded scholarships of up to $500. Scholarship funds are used to supplement tuition fees, excluding travel and supply fees. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first serve basis until funds are no longer available.
 

Eligibility 

Applicants for the PTSA Summer Scholarship must meet the following application requirements:

  1. Both the student applicant AND one parent must hold a PTSA membership for the current school year.
  2. The applicant must be a current freshman, sophomore, or junior at Booker T. Washington HSPVA.
  3. The applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 80 or higher.
  4. The applicant must be accepted or enrolled into an artistic or academic enrichment program and provide proof of acceptance or enrollment.

Application Process

Follow these steps to complete your online application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  1. Create an account on Membership Toolkit.
  2. Purchase a PTSA membership or verify current membership on the Membership Toolkit for the student applying for scholarship and one adult in the student’s household.
  3. Request Official transcript from the registrar's office. The transcript must be from last semester or up to the current quarter, indicating a cumulative GPA of 80 or higher. A photo or scan must be uploaded to the application. 
  4. Collect information for the enrichment program the student is attending, including: program description, proof of acceptance or enrollment, total cost of the program. 
  5. Contact information for payment. Payment can be sent directly to the applicant or guardian if proof of payment is provided. Funds can also be sent to the program itself. In this case please provide all relevant program payment information (address, link, deadline, etc).
  6. Submit the application for approval during the entry date outlined below. Reminder: Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first serve basis until funds are no longer available.
  7. Check your email within two weeks after applying to receive notification of the scholarship award. You must reply to the email to accept your scholarship award by the deadline outlined below.
  8. Check your email for receipt of confirmation of payment made to your enrichment program.

Scholarship Recipient Experience Essay

After completion of the summer enrichment program all scholarships recipients are required to submit a short written essay or a short video of their summer program experience to be considered for a scholarship in the upcoming years. We encourage students to submit pictures of their work if applicable. You can submit your testimonial online after the program.

Click here to request a copy of your transcript from the school online. Be sure to request an Official transcript and note that you must pick it up in person from the attendance/registrar's office. It can take UP TO TWO BUSINESS DAYS to receive your transcript. Please plan accordingly so you do not miss the application deadline waiting for your transcript. Incomplete application packets cannot be accepted. If you need to verify your GPA, you can log into your DISD PowerSchool account and click on your Learner Profile Dashboard to view your cumulative GPA.

Direct to Program: The Scholarship Award can be sent directly to the program via check or electronic payment. Provide full mailing address for check or online link that can accept a Mastercard debit card. Include any helpful identifiers such as account number or confirmation number. 

Reimbursement: The Scholarship Award can be sent directly to the Applicant or Guardian,  via check, if the program has already been paid for and proof of payment is provided.
