As we prepare for the return of our scholar artists, please remember that the deadline for All-School Musical Sustaining Sponsorships is only 13 days away. Our sponsors provide the essential support that powers Shrek the Musical, and the PTSA is actively working to raise the $70,000 needed for this year’s production. Your generosity directly fuels the artistry, resources, and experiences that make our All-School Musical extraordinary, and we are profoundly grateful for every contribution.

Join us at 8 AM at the Senior Entrance in front of the Historic Building as we officially open the door to an incredible senior year with our Red Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, a symbolic celebration marking the beginning of your final chapter at Booker T. This is where the journey begins!

Seniors, get ready for a mid‑week boost during Welcome Week with “Let’s Taco ’Bout It” breakfast burritos on Wednesday at 8:30 AM at the Senior Entrance. This fun kickoff is all about gathering as a class, sharing a quick bite, and keeping your Legacy in Motion as we launch into an unforgettable senior year. Come hungry, come happy, and come ready to start the day together. It’s a simple moment that sets the tone for all the big ones ahead.

Thursday’s Senior Welcome Week activity is all about starting strong with “Bring the Energy, Leave the Legacy”. Seniors are invited to enjoy an energy drink and coffee bar at 8AM at the Senior Entrance. It’s the perfect chance to recharge, connect with classmates, and set the tone for the day. This gathering keeps your Legacy in Motion while giving you the boost you need to power through senior year.

Seniors, mark your calendars for Thursday, August 13! It’s time to pick up your official Class of 2027 Senior T‑Shirtduring lunch/flex in the Senior Café. This shirt is more than just merch; it’s a symbol of unity, pride, and the incredible journey you’ve taken to reach this milestone.

The excitement of senior year truly begins when you put on that shirt and join your classmates in celebrating all that lies ahead. From traditions and celebrations to lasting memories, wearing your senior shirt is the first step in showcasing your Legacy in Motion. We’ll gather for a group photo in your senior t‑shirt, capturing the spirit and unity of the Class of 2027. To make the morning even better, enjoy juice, bagels, and cream cheese as you connect with friends and celebrate the start of this unforgettable year.

This tradition is more than just a photo... It’s a moment to stand together, show your pride, and mark the beginning of all the milestones ahead. Don’t miss the chance to be part of the excitement and keep your Legacy in Motion as we launch senior year in style.

The Senior Send Off Breakfast is the perfect way to celebrate your senior’s Last First Day. After drop-off, parents from the Class of 2027 are invited to gather at Yolk in a reserved space just for our senior families, where you can relax, connect, and enjoy this once‑in‑a‑lifetime milestone together. 

We are grateful to Yolk for their generosity in offering a special discounted price, making it even easier for families to join us. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, pancakes, orange juice, and coffee, all for just $12 per person.

The Roots, Jazz, American Music program is led by Director Terence Hobdy, and the Jazz Combo featured is an exceptional group of student musicians. Vocalist Sabrina Daly is joined by horn players Caleb Lee on alto saxophone, Ketcher Lee on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Benjamin Shelton on tenor saxophone. Pianists Jackson Bickers and Andrew Crecelius, guitarist Lucas Guerra, bassists Jaxon Cole and Meiko Ibañez, and drummers Lourenco RJ Alexander and Spencer Frye complete the ensemble. 

We need incredible volunteers to help bring the BTWHSPVA All School Musical, Shrek the Musical, to life during rehearsals and show week, running September fourteen through September twenty. This is when the magic truly happens, and our scholar artists rely on the energy and support of our community more than ever. Whether you can donate concessions, help with Front of House, assist backstage, support Concessions, or pitch in with Merchandise, we would love to have you join the team. Your involvement helps create an unforgettable experience for our students and our audience.

Booker T. Washington High School is celebrating fifty years of extraordinary artistry, innovation, and impact through Arts Magnet 50, a yearlong celebration guided by the theme Legacy in Motion. The Signature Series features 5 major events hosted by our conservatories, including the Visual Arts Alumni Show, Hamlet ESP, Evening of Dance, the Winter Concert, and a culminating Alumni Celebration on March 5, 2027. 

Additional Arts Partners events enrich the year, including Shrek the Musical, Booker T. Brunch, Booker T. and Baker, The Annual Flyinghorse, and the Alumni Book Launch of Fulfilling the Vision. 

We invite you to keep checking the 50th Anniversary page on our website for dates and updated information. Save one date or all of them and join us in honoring this historic milestone for our remarkable community. 

We encourage all new and returning BTW families to purchase PTSA memberships and pay class dues for the 2026–27 school year.

Class dues support each grade’s Senior Fund, helping create the celebrations and traditions students enjoy when they reach 12th grade. Contributing now sets the foundation for a strong senior year later.

Starting the year with your PTSA membership and class dues ensures smooth planning and gives our PTSA the resources to support all Rising Pegasi from day one.

Students who received a PTSA Summer Scholarship this year are required to submit a testimonial reflecting on their experience. This testimonial is an important part of our scholarship process and is required as a prerequisite to apply for a 2027 PTSA Summer Scholarship.

Current Senior Recipients of a 2026 Summer Scholarship | This is also required, even though you cannot apply for a 2027 Summer Scholarship.

Please ensure your student completes the PTSA Summer Scholarship Testimonial Form by 11:59 PM on August 31.

The BTW PTSA lifts up our students, teachers, and school community through productions, programs, resources, and events, and sustaining sponsors make that work possible. Sponsors also enjoy exciting perks such as Playbill ads, reserved parking and seating, and VIP opening night access. 

This year’s All School Musical, Shrek the Musical, is our biggest production yet, and we urgently need sponsors to help bring its larger than life magic to the stage.
