MESSAGE FROM 2025-26 PTSA PRESIDENT LEAH MORA
Turning Up the Tempo!

It is that time again! Join us at the next general membership PTSA meeting coming up Tuesday, April 7th at 6pm in the Commons. We will be officially voting in next year's leadership team! There is only one week left to express your interest in serving in a PTSA leadership or Committee Chair role, we’d love to hear from you. It’s a meaningful way to get involved, and we only have a few spots left to fill. We aim to finalize nominations for all board positions ahead of our April 7 PTSA meeting, when the official slate vote will take place. We’re also excited to introduce the new Board and Committee Chairs at I Am Booker T Day on April 11th.

The Summer Scholarships program is open and accepting applications. Scholarship applications will be accepted until April 30th or until funds are depleted, as it's first-come, first-served.

Coming in just a few weeks is the cross-conservatory production, CREATIONS, that will take place on May 1. Be sure to mark your calendar for this dynamic showcase of talent, where each piece offers a unique perspective from our scholar artists and is an impactful creative experience.

Let Raising Cane's make your dinner plans easy TOMORROW and swing by (or order online) for BTW Spirit Night from 4-10pm. Details below.

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for your continued engagement and support. With just two months remaining, your commitment has made a meaningful difference!

With gratitude,

Leah

LUNCH TALK!

Hats Off to Reading | Novel Tea Brings Books and Derby Style Together

BTWHSPVA Librarian, Natalia Ivenskaya

BTWHSPVA celebrated National Reading Month in style with the second annual Novel Tea on Friday, March 27 in the library. Hosted by librarian Natalia Ivenskaya, the event brought together books, tea, and plenty of personality for a truly memorable occasion!

This year’s Kentucky Derby theme added an extra layer of fun, with students donning fascinators and gloves, turning the library into a scene straight out of a springtime garden party.

Students learned how to sip like pros with a crash course in tea etiquette, how to make the perfect cup of tea, and the story behind the tradition of afternoon tea. Between lessons, they swapped favorite book recommendations and connected with fellow readers.

And let’s be honest, the treats were a major highlight. Scones, cucumber sandwiches, and macarons disappeared quickly as everyone enjoyed the full tea party experience.

With great books, great company, and a little extra flair, the Novel Tea continues to be a favorite tradition that brings the joy of reading to life in the most fun way.

BTWHSPVA Students Shine in Songs for a New World Production

We’re excited to share some outstanding accomplishments from two talented BTWHSPVA students!

Music conservatory students, freshman Sophie Rose Kirkham (who is also serving as Assistant to the Choreographer/Dance Captain) and junior Mitchell Walker, will be featured in Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown, produced by Our Productions Theatre Co. They are part of the youth ensemble in this powerful production, which includes a professional cast of more than 26 actors, dancers, and vocalists.

The show features a dynamic score by three-time Tony Award–winning composer Jason Robert Brown, brought to life under the direction of Music Director Mark Mullino, who leads a live band of exceptional musicians.

We’re also proud to share that Booker T. alum and Dance Conservatory artist Lindsay Harwell, also a graduate of The Juilliard School, is featured as a guest star.

It’s wonderful to see so many Pegasi represented in this exciting project!

BOOKER T. THEATER IMPROV STUDENTS SHINE AT STOMPING GROUND

The festival, hosted by Lindsay Goldapp, Co-Founder and Executive/Artistic Director of Stomping Ground Comedy Theater (and parent of a rising Pegasi in the Theater conservatory), featured the improv students of the BTWHSPVA Theatre Conservatory Friday and Saturday nights in fast paced, on the spot scenarios that kept the audience laughing throughout.

The performances highlighted some of the program’s brightest talents. Drawing on their improvisational training, these standouts created spontaneous theatre in real time, crafting characters and dialogue right before the audience’s eyes.

The March 28th show featured The Greenhill School with Booker T. students, Annalise Potter, Nick Gameros, Isabella Cedillo, Bailey Long, Seamus Slaughter, Alicia Blanco, Lainey Marcuis, Nasir Meade, Alexander Mora, and Miles Schortgen.

The March 29th show, VERSUS!a hilarious improv showdown where two teams compete in unpredictable challenges and games, both mental and physical. With the Wheel of Challenges adding chaos and surprise, anything can happen, from team swaps to traded points. It is fast, funny, and delightfully absurd. It's the improv competition where nobody actually wins. BTWHSPVA featured performers were Alexander Mora, Miles Schortgen, Dottie Rico, and Annalise Potter.

Congratulations to all of our incredible scholar-artists for stepping up and showing out!
