MESSAGE FROM 2025-26 PTSA PRESIDENT LEAH MORA
HAPPY LABOR DAY!

I hope you have had the opportunity to enjoy this extended holiday weekend.

The ticket site for Guys and Dolls went live this week and tickets are going fast. Secure your tickets today! Please keep in mind that there will be no refunds or exchanges.  Wednesday is exclusively a student preview night, and tickets will be on sale at the door only (no online ticket sales) for $15. While we welcome all of our alumni, we have extended a special invitation to them for the Sunday matinee show - come show your class spirit at the introductory shout out!

The first PTSA meeting of the year is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 2nd at 6pm in the Commons. Special guest School Psychologist, Ms. Jennifer Toombs, SSP, LSSP, will be providing helpful information for parents and sharing an overview of the mental health resources available at BTWHSPVA.  

We keep advancing our commitment for the 50th anniversary of the Arts Magnet celebration and have secured a PTSA Alumni Chair: Michelle Carter.

We now have information from administration regarding the reimagined celebration for Hispanic Heritage which will now be a one-evening festival format celebration on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5pm to 8:30 pm. Please join us for a night that will highlight the talents of many of our scholar artists.

Celebrate your artist (cast, musician, or crew member)! Playbill ads are a recognition of your scholar artist's talent and will memorialize their achievements during the All-School Musical.

PURCHASING AN AD | Complete the Playbill Ad purchase form. All instructions & pricing are listed on the form.

SUBMITTING ADS / ASSETS | Once you've purchased your ad, you will receive a confirmation email with a link (located at the bottom of the email) to upload a completed ad or the assets for us to create one for you. Or you can click here to submit your assets or completed ad - but only after you have completed an ad purchase.

FINAL APPROVAL | You will receive a proof for approval before final submission to the Playbill. However, please know that if we don't hear back from you by the deadline, the ad will print as-is. (Make sure you have added the ASM email address to your contacts: btwhspvaasm@gmail.com.)

DEADLINE | THIS Wednesday, September 3 | Your completed ad or assets must be received by the deadline to be included in the printed Playbill.

FEED THE KIDS

We understand that time may be limited, but the desire to support is strong! There are other ways to show your support. The PTSA provides meals for 150 cast and crew members during the tech and production weeks. We always welcome sponsors and donations to this effort which sustains our student scholars. HISPANIC HERITAGE FESTIVAL
Friday, October 17, 2025 - 5:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.

The Hispanic Heritage Celebration will now be a Festival under the direction of the school and the PTSA along with the Class of 2027 that is proud to join in the celebration!


We will be reaching out to all the feeder schools to send information about the festival in hopes that more community members are able to not only come to celebrate but also witness the talent of all of our scholar artists. 


The Class of 2027 will be in the Commons overseeing a SILENT AUCTION and PUMPKIN DECORATING CONTEST (open to students and organizations - details and registration forms to follow). The Class of 2027 will also have items for sale such as Hispanic Heritage Inspired Desserts and Aguas Frescas as well as other fun activities.  


We are seeking any partnerships with Food Trucks who do not require a deposit minimum.  If you have a connection with a Food Truck vendor, please email the contact information here

HH PUMPKIN DECORATING CONTEST
Show off your creativity!

A Pumpkin Decorating contest will be held in the Commons during the HH Festival on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm.   Last day to submit an entry is Wednesday, October 15, 2027. Judging will take place between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.  

There will prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  Winners will be featured in the PTSA newsletter on October 20, 2025.  

RULES: 

1) Entry fee is $15 dollars payable via online purchase site for the PTSA on membership toolkit 

2) Single and/or Group Entries allowed 

3) You must supply your own pumpkin and submit a fully decorated pumpkin (vignettes are encouraged) 

4) No vulgarity, profanity, endorsement of illegal substances or representations that go against DISD code of conduct policy will be permitted 

5) More than one entry is permitted, but each entry requires a separate entry form

6) NO OPEN FLAMES! 

7) Individual/Group is responsible for set up and removal of items after the contest.  Items left behind at 9:00 pm will be discarded.  HAVE FUN!

The Class of 2027 is thrilled to have Rene Noris kick off the donations with a watch as well as having a commitment for one item by Dallas Mayor Pro Tem, Jesse Moreno and two items by Honorable Pauline Medrano, Dallas County Treasurer.

REFLECTIONS

Students are invited to unleash their creativity and share their perspectives by submitting an original work of art inspired by the 2025-26 Reflections theme "I Belong." You can express yourself in various categories, including Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Don't miss this opportunity to showcase your talent; submission will be in November. (Exact date TBA.)

2027-28 REFLECTIONS THEME CONTEST

Each year, National PTA hosts an annual Reflections Theme Search Contest to select one student theme to inspire student artists in Reflections. A team of National PTA volunteers selects one winning student's theme based on originality and creativity. The winning student is awarded $100 and national recognition!

50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARTS MAGNET
NEW ALUMNI CHAIR

We are excited to announce that preparations for the 50th Anniversary of the Arts Magnet continue.  We have appointed a new Alumni Chair to oversee the Alumni Section of the PTSA: MICHELLE CARTER. Michelle is a Class of 1985 Dance alum and will be working to collect photos and information to build our alumni database.

The 2026-27 school year will mark the 50th Anniversary of the ARTS MAGNET. We are already preparing for a fantastic celebration of the school's history, the contributions of our scholar artists and the significance of our place in the Dallas Arts District.  

Part of the preparation is developing a robust Alumni Directory and Repository to highlight the rich tapestry of talent and engender a spirit of collaboration and networking for everyone.
