MESSAGE FROM 2025-26 PTSA PRESIDENT LEAH MORA
Holiday Highlights in Full Swing

The final days of the year are speeding by as we approach winter break. There is much to be done before then and we look forward to ending this year in great stride.

The cherished Booker T. Angels Program is gearing up for another wonderful year of bringing joy to families at H.I. Holland Elementary School, just one week from today. Please help us by participating in this treasured annual event and peruse the Amazon Wishlists (listed below) in consideration of donating requested items. We are ever closer to securing all requested items. Items have already arrived, and we hope to fill each wishlist as soon as possible in anticipation of the wrap party, which you all are invited to join!

The Holiday Teacher Appreciation Luncheon is coming up this Thursday, December 11th. This luncheon can be extra festive with your donations of gift baskets and/or gift cards for the faculty as a token of appreciation for all that they do to support BTW scholar artists. More information below.

The Pegasus Pantry is fully stocked and bountiful because of your incredible generosity. This is a heartwarming reminder of the indelible BTW community that supports beyond measure. Donations are being shared schoolwide with families in need. Thank you!

As we approach the end of the year, please know that I deeply appreciate your dynamic and continued engagement and service to the wonderful BTW community.

With gratitude,

Leah

SUPPORTER SPOTLIGHT

Melia Beasley is serving her first year as the Social Media Chair for the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts PTSA, where she brings a unique blend of professional expertise, cultural perspective, and creative energy to the role. Born in Seoul, South Korea and adopted as a baby, Melia grew up in Austin, Texas, where her upbringing was shaped by a rich mix of cultures and experiences. That early exposure to diversity instilled in her a deep appreciation for community and the arts, values that continue to guide her today. Professionally, Melia works as an Implementation Manager for a healthcare company, where she specializes in helping teams roll out new systems and processes.

Her career requires frequent travel, but despite her busy schedule, she felt strongly about staying connected to the Booker T. community and giving back in a meaningful way. Taking on the Social Media Chair position was the perfect fit, allowing her to support the school’s mission, highlight student achievements, and amplify the voices of the PTSA while balancing her professional commitments.

Outside of work, Melia is passionate about the outdoors and family time. She especially loves spending weekends at the lake, where wakesurfing has become a favorite activity. She is also proudly the “mom-ager” to her daughter, Brianna Dao, a 9th grader in the Dance Conservatory. Brianna recently began DJing and producing music, and Melia has found immense joy in supporting her daughter’s creative journey. Having Brianna attend Booker T. has been a dream since kindergarten, and seeing her thrive in such a dynamic, artistic environment has been deeply rewarding.

Melia’s love for the arts spans all disciplines. She doesn’t have a single favorite program because she values the creativity and expression that each conservatory brings. She believes that being part of Booker T. is not just about education, but about nurturing imagination, confidence, and community.

A few fun facts add extra dimension to her story: Melia has always loved horses and dreams of horseback riding, though she admits she’s still a little nervous to start. On the other end of the spectrum, she holds a motorcycle license, a nod to her college years when riding was a practical and affordable alternative to owning a car. It remains one of her favorite “surprises” about herself.

With her professional skills, cultural background, and passion for the arts, Melia is excited to contribute to the PTSA and help strengthen the connection between families, students, and the broader Booker T. community. Her energy and dedication make her a valuable part of the team, and she looks forward to continuing to celebrate and support the incredible talent that defines Booker T. Washington HSPVA.

We are deeply grateful to Melia Beasley for her incredible work as the PTSA Social Media Chair at Booker T. Washington HSPVA. With vision, creativity, and tireless dedication, Melia has elevated the way our community connects and celebrates the achievements of our scholar artists.

Her thoughtful leadership ensures that every post, update, and highlight reflects the vibrant spirit of Booker T. Melia doesn’t just manage social media — she tells our story. She captures the pride of parents, the artistry of students, and the dedication of staff, weaving it all together into a narrative that strengthens our community and inspires us daily.

Through her efforts, families feel more connected, students feel more celebrated, and our programs shine brighter. Melia’s ability to turn ideas into action and passion into purpose is a gift we are all grateful for.

Thank you, Melia, for the heart, care, and brilliance you bring to your role. Booker T. is stronger, more vibrant, and more united because of you.

BOOKER T. ANGELS PROGRAM
BOOKER T. ANGELS PROGRAM | GIFTS ARE STILL NEEDED!

As the season of giving arrives, Booker T. Washington HSPVA is honored to continue one of our most cherished traditions, the Booker T. Angels Program. Guided by our Student Council and supported by the PTSA and each Conservatory Guild, this initiative extends joy, compassion, and connection to five families from H.I. Holland Elementary School.

Each family shares a personalized wish list, often including essentials such as school uniforms, toys, and holiday decorations. Our school community comes together to fulfill these requests, offering gifts that reflect both care and generosity.

The program culminates in a festive celebration at H.I. Holland, where families receive their gifts in a joyful, heartwarming setting. More than just presents, it’s a moment of shared humanity, where gratitude, love, and community shine brightest.

How You Can Help

  • Donate Gifts | Explore our Amazon Wishlists featuring gift cards, clothing, toys, and household essentials. Each Guild and the PTSA are sponsoring a family:

  • Volunteer | Help wrap presents on December 11th and/or join us in hosting the Booker T. Angels Family Holiday Party on December 15th at H.I. Holland Elementary School—a joyful gathering that brings our community together.

For questions or to get involved, please reach out to Aaron Moore, BTW Angels Chair, or Andrea Diggs, VP of Community + Programs.

Together, let’s bring light and joy to families who could use a little extra support this season. Every act of generosity, whether time, gifts, or kindness, makes a meaningful difference and reminds us of the strength found in compassion and community.

Thank you to everyone who helps keep this tradition alive. With your support, we’re lighting up the season with kindness and connection.
