PARENT WORKSHOP | NOV. 4

As the parent of a Booker T. student who plans on attending a four year college or university, you simply can’t afford to miss this parent workshop on Wednesday, November 4th at 6:30 PM in the Commons. The PTSA is excited bring you college planning expert Doug Bryan with Insight College & Financial Solutions. He will be sharing secrets on how to send your child to schools you never thought you could afford.

Topics in this 80 minute workshop include:

  • How the BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL will impact your college plans.
  • How to send your child to the school of their dreams without getting trapped in a financial nightmare.
  • An interactive example of how the admissions “game” REALLY works.
  • Where to find big piles of free money and not fight over the scraps everyone else is going after.
  • Why you shouldn’t be afraid of the “sticker price” of an expensive private school.
  • Why listening to your CPA, financial advisor or other parents could cost you BIG TIME.
  • And much, MUCH more.

Having this valuable information is like having a flashlight to explore a cave, while every other parent stumbles through blind.

Click here for more info and/or to register. Bring a friend! This workshop is a community event open to any parent with a high school student in any grade level, from any high school.

This workshop is completely free for all attendees. Following the workshop, families who sign up for a one-on-one consultation with Insight College & Financial Solutions can feel good knowing that 100% of the initial consultation fee will be donated to support Class of 2028 senior activities and events.

SUPPORTER SPOTLIGHT

A proud native of Miami, Florida, Tiffani Turner brought her passion for the arts, education, and service to North Texas seven years ago. With more than 20 years of professional experience in audit, accounting, and financial reporting, she is honored to serve as the BTWHSPVA PTSA Treasurer for the 2026-2027 school year. In this role, she oversees the financial stewardship of PTSA funds and provides monthly financial reconciliations that promote transparency and accountability in how funds are raised, managed, and invested in support of students and staff.

Tiffani's journey in the arts began at age eight when she first picked up the violin. Her artistic interests soon expanded to dance, where she studied ballet, tap, and jazz before earning a place on her high school's dance line and marching band auxiliary, the Miami Killian Cougarettes. Although her academic path ultimately led her to Florida State University, where she earned bachelor's degrees in both Accounting and Finance, she continued taking dance classes and nurturing her love of the performing arts throughout college.

Following graduation, Tiffani launched her career at a Big Four accounting firm in Miami before relocating to Atlanta, where she joined the finance organization of a Fortune 500 telecommunications company. Her dedication and professional growth with that organization eventually brought her to Dallas, a city she is now proud to call home.

Tiffani's connection to Booker T. began when she attended I Am Booker T. Day and Pegasus Pickup. Overwhelmed by the wealth of information available to families and eager to stay informed, she joined the PTSA and began attending meetings. Initially volunteering as a Monthly Financial Reviewer because of her finance background, she soon learned there was a need for a Treasurer and stepped forward to serve. Since then, she has become an invaluable part of the PTSA leadership team.

Her scholar artist, Kendall, is a junior in the Visual Arts Conservatory, where Tiffani also serves as Guild Treasurer. Kendall was one of the first five students accepted to Booker T. from the newly formed MLK Arts Academy K-8. As a freshman, she earned third place in the Scrap Can Be Beautiful competition for her scrap metal sculpture. Today, Kendall enjoys design and sculpture classes and plans to continue studying visual arts beyond high school.

One of Tiffani's favorite Booker T. traditions is the All-School Musical, which she believes perfectly embodies the school's collaborative spirit. She loves seeing students from every conservatory come together to create an ambitious, professional-quality production right on campus, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication that defines what makes Booker T. exceptional.

Outside of her volunteer work, Tiffani enjoys spending time with family and friends, whether gathered around a table at a new restaurant, connecting over the phone, or exploring new destinations around the world. An avid traveler, she has visited 18 countries and is always looking forward to her next adventure. She also continues to pursue her love of dance and even participated in an NBA pregame dance performance during the Dallas Mavericks versus Indiana Pacers game in March 2023. When it's time to unwind, some of her favorite guilty pleasures include Tubi movies, The Kardashians, and The Real Housewives franchise.

In addition to her PTSA and Guild leadership roles, Tiffani serves as the Dallas Regional Representative for Black Alumni at Florida State University, where she was recently recognized as Regional Representative of the Year. Her love for Florida State and the Seminole community fuels her commitment to connecting alumni and supporters throughout North Texas. Her dedication to service also extends to several nonprofit organizations close to her heart, including M.E.N.D. and Hope Mommies.

Tiffani's dedication extends far beyond balancing budgets and tracking expenses. She approaches every decision with a thoughtful commitment to supporting the programs, initiatives, and opportunities that enrich the Booker T. experience. Her reliability, integrity, and willingness to tackle even the most complex financial matters have made her an indispensable member of the Executive Board.

On behalf of the entire Booker T. community, we extend our sincere appreciation to Tiffani for her countless hours of service, exceptional leadership, and steadfast commitment to our mission. Her behind-the-scenes efforts help turn ideas into reality and ensure the PTSA remains strong, effective, and positioned to support future generations of scholar artists. We are deeply grateful for all she does to help our students and school thrive.
