Greetings, Booker T. family! Happy Mother's Day to all our PTSA moms and those whose love and memories live on through us. Today, we honor all mothers and cherish the love, care, and sacrifices made daily. I wish everyone a lovely day filled with warmth, joy, and gratitude! |
| I am excited to announce that Jeffery Miller, one of our beloved Theatre faculty members, will be directing the All-School Musical! Mr. Miller is an expert in Musical Theatre, Acting, Stage Management, and more! Principal Williams and Arts Coordinator Nedra James have complete confidence that the school's opening production of ON YOUR FEET! will succeed under his direction. In celebration, Leah Mora, VP of Fundraising, and I presented him with a care package filled with his favorite snacks and Booker T. PTSA spirit wear! We hope it boosts his energy as we know how rigorous the All School Musical can be, and we wanted him to have all his favorites while kicking off the auditions on the last week of school. Mr. Miller is thrilled about his new role and looks forward to seeing all the students at the auditions. |

I'm also excited to announce that our beloved dance faculty consultant, Fernando Hernandez, will be the choreographer for ON YOUR FEET! Mr. Hernandez has been a dance consultant for BTWHSPVA for twenty-five years and has taught thousands of students, many of whom you've recently seen perform Ballet Folklorico throughout the school year. Mr. Hernandez is also an expert costumer and will serve as the Costume Designer for the All-School Musical. He is looking forward to holding the dance auditions and can't wait to get started on the costume designs! As you know, ON YOUR FEET! is an inspiring true story about heart, heritage, and how music changes the world. Another beloved faculty consultant and alum who understands this well is from the Music Conservatory. I'm excited to announce that Geno Young is the Music Director for the All-School Musical! Mr. Young is excited to return as the All-School Musical Music Director after leading the award-winning "Wiz Band" during the centennial year of the All-School Musical. He is looking forward to directing the band for ON YOUR FEET! All instrumentalists can submit their interest form using this link. More announcements will be shared in the upcoming weeks and months as more faculty members of the arts join the production team! In the meantime, students, get ready! There will be two audition calls, one for singing and the other for dancing, on May 21-23. All current rising students for grades 10-12 for the 2024-25 school year from all conservatories are encouraged to audition and fill out the Student Interest Form to be considered for a cast, band, and crew role. Read all about it in the All School Musical article below. |
| This week, we celebrated our educators and staff for National Teacher Appreciation Week! To help our teachers "Flaming-Get-Going" for the week, we had a coffee, tea, and snack cart in the library on Monday morning! Shout out to Joe, the East Dallas Middle Ground barista and BTW alum from the Class of 2013 Music Conservatory. All week long, our students and parents shared words of gratitude on our social media. We also delivered the latest Booker T. PTSA spirit wear to our teachers and ended the week with a "Mix and Flamingle" teacher appreciation lunch. A special thank you to Alicia Schortgen, Faculty Advocate, and to all our volunteers throughout the week! |
