2022-2023 has been an exciting year! Congratulations to the graduating class of 2023, and thank you to our outstanding Pegasi faculty, students, parents, guilds, and volunteers for making this centennial year the best yet! A special thank you to our PTSA President Karen Walter, Treasurer Julie Cash-Teague and Class of 2023 Chair Priti Aziz. Each of you impacted the Pegasi community through your leadership, service and support. We're eternally greatful to you and wish you the best in your future endeavors of supporting your Pegasi graduates.

The 2023-2024 BTWHSPVA PTSA Executive Board and Committees have already started preparing for year 101! Please read the below announcements to stay informed over the summer.

Auditions are now OPEN to current 9th-11th grade students for the All-School Musical, Hairspray! Submit your audition video online. The deadline to submit your audition is June 1, 2023. We're looking for students to fill the following roles in the cast and crew:

CAST: Actors, Dancers, Singers, Instrumentalists

• Actors - upload a video of your monologue showcasing your acting ability
• Vocalists - upload a video showcasing your vocal ability. If you are not a singer, do your best. Just try.
• Dancers - upload a one-minute video showcasing your improvisation dance skills
• Instrumentalists - Submit your summer contact information and primary skill on the application. No need to upload videos.

CREW: Technical Theater, Costume Design, Stage Construction, Graphic Design, Lights, Sound

A two-week ASM intensive will be held at the school toward the end of July. Additional auditions may be requested during the intensive. Rehearsals will begin in August. Please include your summer contact information in the form. Faculty members will be in contact with applicants throughout the summer.

Calling all students and parents! Volunteers are needed to serve as committee members and chairs for the 2023-24 school year. Both students and parents are welcome to fill these important roles! Committees include Class Representatives, Arts in Education, Parent Education, Student Advocacy, Faculty Advocacy, Summer Scholarship, Hospitality, Fundraising, Communications, and more! For more information on these committees, check out the PTSA website and fill out the committee interest form. The president will be in contact with you over the summer to help determine the best role for your interest and availability.

Attend informative meetings, volunteer, and contribute - the possibilities are varied, meaningful, and numerous. The sooner you join, the sooner you're connected! 

Who can be a member? Parents, guardians, grandparents, teachers, staff, and community members can all be PTSA members.

Parents/Guardians: Your active membership keeps you connected to your student and gives you a voice in their educational success and personal well-being in the BTWHSPVA PTSA CommYOUnity. 

Students: You are an important part of the PTSA CommYOUnity. Your membership in PTSA benefits not only the school and other students but also YOU. We need to hear from YOU to ensure we work on things that make a difference. Learn leadership and life skills to use for the rest of your life and apply for the summer scholarship to help you continue to study beyond Booker T.

Faculty: The PTSA celebrates and supports teachers' vital role in student education. Our faculty advocacy role acknowledges and advocates for any faculty in need. Your membership gives you a voice in how best the PTSA can help YOU.

The BTWHSPVA PTSA is participating in the National PTA School of Excellence program, which grows partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students. As part of the process, National PTA requests feedback from families, administrators and teachers. From September-November, we collected survey responses from the BTW community. The spring survey is now open. Please take a few minutes to complete this anonymous survey by May 31.
