Happy Fall, Y'all!

The fall season at Booker T. brings many more opportunities for students to thrive academically and artistically. Throughout October and November, students will take the PSAT, prepare for college showcase week, and perform or display their artwork.

A special thank you to all who generously gave to our beloved custodian Mr. Bell. French teacher Heather Benedetto said she is "so grateful for and amazed by the quick show of support for our dear Mr. Bell by the PTSA! Your generous contributions far exceeded the bare minimum goal, and Mr. Bell will surely be able to obtain reliable transportation." Ms. Benedetto said she saw many donations coming in as notifications were sent to her phone. She said, "I was delightfully overwhelmed and stupified by the generosity of our Booker T. family! What a heart-warming event for all!!!" Upon presenting Mr. Bell with donations, he said "that he is truly, truly, truly, TRULY grateful. He was definitely astonished, speechless," said Ms. Benedetto, "by the care that you have shown with your support and messages! Mr. Bell will be checking out a vehicle this week!" Thank you once again to all who could give and support a member of our Booker T. family.

A special shout out to the LULAC organization as they wrap up the festivities of the Hispanic Heritage Month. Part of their spirit dress week encouraged students to wear their quinceañera dresses to school. What a special moment for these students.

Guest Speaker: BTWHSPVA Public Relations Specialist and Arts Magnet Coordinator, Sharon Cornell, will share important information on the upcoming College Showcase and the audition process for prospective Booker T. students.

All attendees with a PTSA and Guild membership who paid their class dues will be entered in a raffle to win a family four-pack to 'Booker T. Live' hosted by the BTW Advisory Board.

What are class dues? The PTSA grade-level committees collect class dues to prepare and support their senior-year expenses. Annual class dues for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are $35, and seniors are $90. Pay your class dues online today.

Thank you to all students who have paid their senior class dues! The Airpods winner was announced on Monday, October 2.

Currently less than half of the senior class has paid class dues. These dues fund senior surprises, the Senior Speaker Series, the senior party, Prom, and more. Without these funds we will have to scale back these events. If you aren't sure if you've paid or have questions, reach out to the PTSA or the Senior Activities Commitee. Yard signs and extra senior class t-shirts are still for sale on the PTSA website. All purchased merchandise can be picked up at the next PTSA general membership meeting on Tuesday, October 10.

Candy donations are needed for the next senior surprise. If you are able to donate a large bag of candy (like the Halloween bags, no nuts or peanut butter), please bring it to the next PTSA meeting on October 10. 

Submissions for the Reflections program open October 15! This year's theme is "I am hopeful because ..." To be eligible the student applicant and a parent/guardian must be PTSA members. A parent membership is $15, and a student membership is only $5. Join the PTSA today to get started!

All students are invited to a free SAT prep session from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 at Sunset High School (2120 Jefferson Blvd, Dallas). 

Our college advisor Alexandra Clayton will have application sessions on October 10-11 from 4:40-5:30 in room 208. She is also accessible in Room 212, by email at AClayton@aspdallas.org, or Remind @aspbtw24. Email or send a Remind if you need help with applications over fall break.
